It was always intended by the writers that Doug Parkinson would sing the theme, but the show’s producers and particularly the Nine Network were reluctant since Doug had sung the theme for the short-lived soap, ARCADE, a few years earlier. Several singers were auditioned with the nod eventually going to Chris.
